NSFAS BURSARY
The NSFAS
bursary is open to all South African citizens and permanent residents with a
combined household income of not more than R350 000 per annum. For persons
living with disabilities, the combined household income is capped at R600 000
per annum.

The NSFAS
Loan is open to all South African citizens and permanent residents with a
combined household income is between R350 001 and R600 000 per annum.
Higher Education Minister Nobuhle Nkabane has encouraged prospective
students to apply to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme for the 2025
academic year.

How
to apply for funding?
Applying
for NSFAS funding is easy, quick and secure.
NSFAS
is a public entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training. NSFAS
provides financial help through study bursaries to deserving students at TVET
colleges and public universities. The funding covers the cost of registration,
tuition as well as allowances for learning material, food, personal care,
transport or accommodation. Assisting millions South Africans to achieve their
dreams.
How to apply NSFAS Application 2025:
To
apply on NSFAS it is very easy if you follow three steps:
Ø To create an
account on myNSFAS through official website link (end of the
post below) and consider your ID number will be your username.
Ø Click on
the ‘Apply’ tab to update your personal information and upload your
application supporting documents
Ø Submit your
application after uploading your supporting documents ( Make sure the
supporting documents is among of the required)
Things to Consider before Applying to NSFAS Application 2025:
It
is very important that during the application to consider to provide the correct
ID number, name(s) and surname as reflected in their ID
documents.
NSFAS
will validate the ID upfront. This will allow them to evaluate your application
with the validated and correct information received from the Department of Home
Affairs (DHA), South African Social Security Agency (SASSA),
Department of Basic Education (DBE) and others.

Eligible applicants supposed to Apply NSFAS Application 2025:
Who
qualifies for funding? Eligible applicant who qualifies to apply National
Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is:
Ø South
African citizens or permanent residents
Ø SASSA grant
recipients
Ø Applicants
whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
Ø Persons
living with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than
R600 000 per year.
Who should not apply?
Students
who have already applied and receivedfunding in previous years, have not as yet
graduated on their current qualification and do not intend to change from one
sector to another (TVET College to University or vice versa). They are automatically
funded for the duration of their studies, provided they pass their modules and
meet the academic requirements.
Required Documents for applying NSFAS Application 2025:
1. If you are a
SASSA recipient, then no proof of income is required.
2. Certified
documents are not a requirement
Required documents
All
applicants:
Ø Copy of ID
Ø ID copies of
parent(s), guardian or spouse
Ø Proof of
income of parent(s), guardian or spouse (payslip or appointment letter, where
applicable)
Note: If you are a SASSA recipient, then no proof of income is
required. Certified documents are not a requirement. Based on the application
type, the system will generate a list of required documents for upload.
Students
living with disabilities must provide:
Ø A completed
and signed Disability Annexure A Form (available on the official website)
Students recognised as vulnerable child must provide:
An
applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social
Development must provide completed and Vulnerable Child Declaration form
completed by a social worker (available on the website).
Students –( non-SASSA) who has indicated no family members details
must provide:
An
applicant who has indicated that s/he has no family member details and or
abridged birth certificate must complete the Non-SASSA Declaration Form
(available on the website)
Other documents required, if applicable:
Ø Retrenchment
letter
Ø Death
certificate/s; Divorce decree
Note: No affidavits or copy of driver’s license will be accepted
as proof of ID
